Thought for the week

Fear is the brains way of saying that there is something important for you to overcome

19th April 2017

Dear Parent,

It was lovely to see everyone back in school this morning well rested and having enjoyed their Easter break. Children literally skipped into school this morning with huge smiles upon their faces which as I stand outside and watch is a delight to see!

We also welcomed a few new families to school and know that everyone will make them feel very much part of the Branwood family!

Non-Uniform Day – Friday 26th April

We are in the run up to the Summer Fair and all pupils are asked to come in non-school uniform and bring a bottle as a contribution towards the very popular bottle stall. The Summer Fair is Saturday 24th June and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Form 6 are on a visit to the Catalyst Museum on this date and will be required to wear their normal school uniform (not PE kit).

New Outdoor Equipment

We are delighted that we have new equipment on the KG1 playground, including a large sized static wooden play tracker, sand pit, mud kitchen, pirate island and road with parking bays. I know that the children will love it and will make good use of the space for both structured and unstructured learning and development.

We also have a wooden trail alongside the lower astro-pitch. Children will be allowed to play on this as part of play-times once the risk assessment has been finalised this week. Children will NOT however be allowed to play on it at the start or end of the school day as parents are picking them up – the children are not covered by insurance under these circumstances and therefore we cannot allow children to put themselves at risk. Staff will ask children found playing at these times to go back to their parents.

We are continuing our development outside as we have more to come over the next term! This is an exciting addition to the Branwood environment.

Sun Safety

We are hoping for some nice weather over this term and will be sending out our sun safety letter very soon regarding sun cream and sun hats.

Form 1 – Another Post-card from Julia Donaldson!

Julia was delighted to receive letters from Form 1 children and explained how pleased she is that the children are learning through using her books.

Have a great week!

Kind regards,

Mrs Follett
