Thought of the week
An ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness.
6th March 2017
A lot of people would have noticed a giant yellow duck outside of school today. It was hard to miss!
The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the 6 metre duck outside and all the little yellow ducks we had in school. It was all to support this morning’s assembly which focused on the Manchester Duck Race. The lady from Brainwaves came in to tell the children about the race and why it happens.
On Good Friday, April 14th, the Manchester Duck race will take place between 11am – 4pm on the River Irwell. People can buy a duck online at
As a school we supported the NSPCC last year and in order to continue to support local charity events we are supporting the Manchester Duck race this year so we would like to encourage people, if possible, to buy a duck and help support local children and families.
Links and details can be found on our social media sites.
As a special gift all children have been given a little yellow duck to keep at home courtesy of the Brainwave charity.
Facebook and Twitter
We have very active social media sites and are proud of the technical developments we have made so far.
We would love to have more Facebook and Twitter followers and it will help you to see the fantastic things happening in school. There are a wide range of tweets and some encourage participation which is great fun…last week we got to see some of our children flipping pancakes at home!
We are running our Easter Holiday / Multi-Sports Club for one week instead of two due to necessary maintenance works.
Holiday / Multi-Sports Club is open
Monday 3rd April – Friday 7th April
Please see Miss Best or the TQ Sports website.
Since February half term we have seen some very smart and happy pupils wearing their new PE uniform. Both parent and pupil feedback has been positive and it looks fantastic.
There is no imminent time frame to change to the new PE uniform so please wait until your child has grown out of their old blue one or wait until it is no longer fit for purpose.
Parking / Playground
Please be mindful of our whole school community when parking and reversing on the school playground. We use the playground to make dropping off and picking up easier and would appreciate everyone’s support in making it a safe and hassle free environment.
On occasions when parents / visitors are not able to park on the playground we do ask that you park carefully on Stafford road ensuring that you do not block residents’ driveways and give enough space for other users.
Form 6 – Grammar and Independent School Entry
We are delighted with the outcomes of the Form 6 examinations and application process. We will be sharing the results very soon!
Have a great week!
