Admissions

Our Admission Policy

Entry may be considered at any appropriate age and application should be made to the bursar in the first instance. An appointment can be made for the parents of prospective pupils to visit the school, talk with the headmaster, discuss their children’s educational needs and objectives, ask any questions they may have and register their child for entry.

Early registration for entry at age three is essential as there is a heavy demand for places at this stage. Academic ability and potential are the criteria for later entry and an assessment appropriate to the age of the potential entrant is made on application. A regularly revised and updated waiting list is maintained to facilitate entry for suitable pupils for whom a place is not immediately available.

The programme for Early Year and Foundation Stage (EYFS) of a child’s initial schooling is an area which has recently, and still is, receiving a great deal of consideration and research.

Full details of all necessary information for new parents and pupils is circulated in good time before a child starts in Branwood School. Handbooks are also available for download from the Handbooks page. The parents of all entrants to the first kindergarten class are invited, with their children, to an open afternoon in the summer prior to their child’s September entry, in order to meet staff, other parents and children and familiarise their son or daughter with the school environment. There are form packs available and meetings are held for parents of all children throughout the school prior to starting a new academic year.
