Form Two is an exciting and stimulating place to be. The children are growing and developing rapidly and are embarking on their final year in our infant department.  They work hard, learn a great deal and develop enormously, both socially and academically.

DAILY ROUTINE

In Maths and English, the children build upon the work previously started in Form One, as well as tackling new topics as detailed below.

Maths

The children learn to recognise larger numbers through an understanding of place value i.e. thousands, hundreds, tens and units. They continue learning their times tables, they work using money and time, discover fractions, symmetry, venn diagrams and block graphs, and begin knowing how to share and divide numbers with remainders.

English

In English each week the children learn a set list of spellings and during the year a lot of effort is put into developing handwriting. Children are encouraged to read as much as possible and books are changed on a daily basis.

History

In History the children study Homes in the Past, The Great Fire of London, famous people and also compare seaside holidays now to those in the past.

Geography

During our Geography lesson we look at different countries in our topic ‘Where in the World is Barnaby Bear’ and back up our study of the oceans and seaside with a visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium. We also study types of houses and homes and the local area.

Science

Our Science curriculum is equally varied with lessons on Health and Growth, Planets and Animals in their local environment, everyday materials, the environment and inventors.

Art & Design

Our art work is covered under the themes of Lowry, Mondrian, Owls and Under the Sea. We use many different materials and techniques such as charcoal, painting, sewing and clay work.

R.E.

In R. E. we study a broad curriculum including Parables, Christian Saints, The church community, baptism and Hinduism.

P.E.

Form Two have their P.E. lesson on a Thursday afternoon.  Please ensure they come to school in their full Branwood P.E. kit on both Thursdays and Fridays.

ICT and Music

Children have a weekly ICT class and Music lesson.
