Mrs Houseman

Form One Teacher

B.Ed (Hons)

What led you to be a teacher?

I loved school. My favourite game to play was school. As I grew older I realised that working with children and being a part of their educational journey was the only job for me.

What’s the best part of your job?

When children are enjoying their learning and you can see their excitement and enthusiasm. To be able to give them such experiences is truly wonderful. Plus the hugs from happy, content children never fails to make me smile.

If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be doing now?

Working with children is wonderful – I’m sure I was destined to work with them in one capacity or another.

What’s your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Every year I cry tears of joy and pride – at the Nativity, during exam weeks, at the end of the year and when reading cards or looking at pictures the children have created for us.

How would you like to be remembered by your pupils?

As a teacher who cared and made learning fun and interesting.

What surprises you about Branwood?

I never fail to be surprised at the achievement of pupils, the dedication of the staff and the happy atmosphere in school.

What makes you proud of Branwood?

So much! The hard work and determination of the children. The commitment and enthusiasm of the staff. The support and care of our parents.

If you had one word to sum up life at Branwood, what would it be?

Exciting!
