The staff members in Form Two work tirelessly to ensure that the whole class thoroughly enjoys their learning and to ensure that they make a tremendous amount of progress. The children develop enormously both socially and academically through the course of the academic year. As they progress through their final year of the infant department, they take on more responsibility for their own learning journey and gradually learn to work much more independently.
Form Two have daily English and mathematics lessons where the children build upon their learning from Form One, and further develop their knowledge and understanding of all key concepts and areas in these subjects. Form Two also have weekly spelling and mental maths tests, as well as times table challenges. Reading books are changed on a daily basis and cursive handwriting is developed further. Homework for English and mathematics is given each evening, building upon and supporting the daily class curriculum.
Form Two also cover a range of fun and interesting topics, which incorporate the teaching of Science, Art, Geography, History, DT and RE. The main cross curricular themes are based on ‘Castles and Homes’, ‘Famous People and The Great Fire of London’, ‘Owls’ , ‘Where The Wild Things Are’, ‘ Under The Sea’, ‘Seaside Holidays’ , ‘Where In The World’ and ‘Roald Dahl.’ There are some exciting field trips for the children to look forward to, including visits to the Blue Planet Aquarium and the Salford Museum.
The children also continue to have weekly Music, Spanish and PE lessons delivered by specialist teachers.
