Kindergarten Two welcomes your child into the infant department at Branwood. Here your child will continue on their academic journey, building upon the structure and curriculum introduced in KG1. Children enter KG2 with a great deal more confidence, having become accustomed to the routine of the school day from the previous academic year.
Play based learning and the Early Years Foundation Stage criteria still play an important role in KG2, but traditional learning is now introduced and your child will make dramatic progress in the core areas of Literacy, Phonics and Mathematics. By the end of the academic year, our children are working well above their chronological age.
Our staff in KG2 work hard to create a kind, caring and happy environment to enable our children to grow, learn and become confident individuals. All children are encouraged to share their likes, interests, hobbies and ambitions with the class. This information is then used by our teachers to produce informed lesson planning and tailored topics to ensure that our children are excited and engaged in lessons.
Staff ensure that parents are kept informed of their child’s progress through the use of half termly reports, termly parents’ evenings and a weekly class newsletter. We value contributions from home telling us about experiences, achievements and special moments through the use of ‘wow moments’ cards.
Children continue to receive weekly Music, Spanish and PE lessons delivered by specialists who are qualified in their respective fields. KG2 has a wonderful canopy area, allowing the children to enjoy the outdoor facilities in all weather.
